What is this coffee?

This is our first coffee from Arnulfo Leguizamo out of San Agustin, Colombia, but I promise you it won’t be our last. The dark chocolate note here is tempered by smooth vanilla sweetness that keeps the cup approachable and easy to drink. The orange juice brightness on the finish gives it just enough pop to make sure you reach for another sip. This is a daily driver. The kind of coffee you can brew in a V60 on slow days or put in your Moccamaster when you’re in a hurry. I’m so glad we’ve been able to start working with Arnulfo.

Processing Method

Washed Process- Washed processing is coffee's most common and reliable method. Through depulping, controlled fermentation, and thorough rinsing, this water-intensive process minimizes variables to produce clean, bright cups that showcase origin characteristics and variety.

Country

Colombia- Colombia exports over 12 million bags annually, making it the world's third largest specialty coffee producer. Perfect climate, mountainous terrain, and numerous microclimates create incredibly versatile coffee, from bold chocolate notes to bright fruity profiles, with smooth, balanced flavor.

Altitude

1840masl - Altitude is typically correlative to the potential complexity of a coffee bean. The higher in altitude the coffee is grown, the denser the bean will be, resulting in a more dynamic cupping experience.

Meet Arnulfo Leguizamo •

In late 2024, Jonathan and I got a chance to visit a bunch of farms in San Agustín, Colombia, and as you'd expect with a whirlwind trip like that, a lot of those visits start to blend together. Arnulfo was not that. His personality is as big as his farm, and every moment with him is a core memory I will never forget. The picture of him on this profile page is my iPad's wallpaper and is just quintessential coffee farm visit imagery to me. He's everything I love about coffee and why I tell people, I'm retired, I just go to work during it.

It is the world’s leading exporter of emeralds–exporting 70-90% of the world’s supply. It is the world's second most biodiverse country–with more species of bird than in Europe and North America combined. It has the world's tallest palm trees (up to 200 feet tall!) and the world’s most colorful “rainbow” river (Caño Cristales).

It is also the third largest producer of specialty coffee in the world, preceded only by Brazil and Vietnam. But it didn’t arrive at that place overnight.
