Morkata Gata • Natural-Processed Guji Heirloom
It’s a breath of fresh air to have an Ethiopian coffee back in our mix. In all transparency, we really have had a hard time the past few years honing in on an Ethiopian coffee we’ve genuinely loved. Most everything either quickly becomes out of our price range or just doesn’t shine on the cupping table in the ways we expect an Ethiopian coffee to. This lot from Morkata is different though. Very fairly priced for the cup quality, we were very impressed with the clarity and soft sweetness that this natural processed coffee has. We don’t pick up an intense acidity, more so a muted sweetness, which frankly I’ve been craving lately. A bit of rest really helps open this coffee up a bit. Highly recommend!

Rodin Villatoro • Washed-Processed Bourbon, Caturra Alaska Lot
My personal journey with Guatemalan coffee is rigorous. initially as I got into specialty coffee, I really was inclined to the bright and floral coffees, the ones with the obvious and easy to tell notes in their profiles. Inherently, this pushed me away from Guatemalan coffees a bit, as the terroir and processing of at least Huehuetanango embraced the tradition of refined processing techniques. As my palates developed, I’ve grown to fall in love with what can come out of such coffees. Clarity isn’t talked much about in specialty coffee circles, as a lot of roasters like vibrant crazy blow-your-mind cups. But clarity… clarity is where it’s at. This cup from Rodin is the most clean, clear representation of a washed Guatemalan coffee (I’m being bold here) I think we’ve ever had. This just has the quintessential notes. Decadent chocolate with very richly sweet mouthfeel and fantastic consistency in it all. We love this coffee and couldn’t be happier to feature and ever-refining production from the Villatoro family.

Eugene Altieri • Natural-Processed Catuai
Sagebrush has practically grown up alongside the Altieri family. Both Sagebrush and the Altieri family farm gained traction around the same time and we have been buying from them for around a decade now. Every year we snag a lot of either their caturra or catuai and this year we went with a natural process catuai. In April of 2025, the Kellso family had the opportunity to enjoy some time with the Altieri’s in Boquete Panama, where we spent an afternoon cupping their coffees and enjoying a lunch together. It was awesome hearing about Eugene’s story regarding his farm and it makes us that much more excited to feature his coffees. This specific coffee has a nice, smooth sweetness with a smooth mouthfeel. A developed sugar note sits next to some complex floral and tea like complexity.

Paola & Carlos Trujillo • Washed-Processed Pink Bourbon
We had the opportunity to meet Paola in 2024 and instantly were drawn to her work ethic. She took a 4 hour bus ride down to San Augustin just to be able to cup and hang out with us. Many if not the majority of her coffees were the best cups blind on the table, a testament to her dedication to quality. We’re really excited to feature a full lineup of her coffees, with this deliciously complex pink bourbon being the first of that lineup. This coffee’s cup boasts a nice conjunction of bright complexity with smooth Colombian coffee terroir. What’s funny honestly is that this coffee almost feels bipolar in a sense, with some days really tasting nice and bright and fruited and other days tasting more traditional and chocolate forward. Certainly a higher skill level to dial in, but it really helps you get exactly what you enjoy out of this cup.
