In addition to whole coffee beans, we currently offer 4 different coffee grind levels.  Listed below with descriptions.

Whole Bean: Unground coffee for a home grinder.

Coarse: Think sugar in the raw, maybe more coarse
   Recommended for Chemex Brewer, French Press, Cold Brew

Medium: Slightly coarser than table salt
   Recommended for Flat bottom brewers, Kalitta, and Cloth filters

Fine:  Slightly finer than table salt
   Recommended for V60 pour overs, Typical cone filter coffee pots, Aeropress.

Extra Fine: Like powdered sugar
   Recommended for Espresso or Moka pot.

Tasting Notes:

This Kenyan washed process delivers an incredibly clean and bright cup. The over-the-top acidity that you have the potential of getting in a Kenyan is not here in this bean. Instead, you receive a much more palatable and toned down acidity that comes through with a dessert like profile. With notes of key lime pie and lemon drop candy, the balance of sweet and tangy is excellent and makes just one cup go by too quickly.

Karatu Coffee Factory Coffee Production

Karatu Coffee Factory is located near Gatundu town in Kenya's Thika District, Central Province. It was established in 1965, and membership is currently held in the nearby villages of Karatu, Gitwe, Kibiru and Kigaa Villages. Karatu is a "factory", in Kenyan terms, basically a cooperative wet mill that buys and sells the coffee of members. Factories generally supply more than just access to the coffee market, and Karatu offers additional programs including access to capital for farm reinvestment, and provides members with agronomical inputs. The Karatu site sits at around 1890 meters above sea level, and is strategically situated next to the Rwabura river where it is able to pump clean water for processing coffee. They've dug waste water pits where the water used for processing is directed and soaks into the soil instead of running off back into the river.
