Grind Levels Explained

Proper coffee extraction is critical for achieving that perfect cup at home. Grind size is one of the few ways to be able to directly affect that extraction rate.

In addition to whole coffee beans, we currently offer 3 different coffee grind levels:

Coarse (Think sugar in the raw, maybe more coarse)
Recommended for

  • Chemex Brewer
  • French Press
  • Cold Brew

Medium (Slightly coarser than table salt)
Recommended for

  • Any flat bottom brewer
  • Kalitta wave
  • Cloth filters

Fine (Slightly finer than table salt)
Recommended for

  • V60 pour overs
  • Typical cone filter coffee pots
  • Aeropress

If you're interested in ground for Espresso, choose fine and mention something in the order comments.

If at all possible, we recommend grinding at home. We prefer Baratza coffee grinders and offer several of their models for sale. Click here to shop for one of their brewers.

In the Cup:

Usually, naturals aren’t going to get as dynamic of a range of flavor profiles as their washed process counterpart, but this coffee comes forth with an extremely wide array of various sweetnesses and acidities. An underlying thick-bodied honey sweetness sits below pops of berry, mango, and fresh pineapple. Pay attention as it cools and you get a muted cacao-like bitterness that pulls this exquisite Colombian cup together for a perfectly balanced fruity coffee.

El Mirador

Alonso is a dreamer! He is from Acevedo-Huila, where he has his farm, El Mirador. He lives with his wife, his 3 sons, and his grandsons! His focus on coffee is to always be improving every day, and that has been his journey over the last 8 years when he was introduced to the specialty world of coffee. Nowadays, Alonso not only has become a great specialty coffee grower but instead he has also included many of his friends and family who are involved in coffee to work towards quality instead of quantity. He also comes from the 2nd generation of coffee growers, which created a very special bond with this crop and his dream is to be in it for his whole life!
